Ocean City’s 41st Annual White Marlin Open

This year’s White Marlin Open is scheduled for Aug. 4-8, 2014, and is Ocean City Maryland’s premier fishing tournament. The Open can bring huge winnings to the lucky anglers who catch the biggest fish. It’s one of the biggest fishing competitions of its kind and is the world’s largest billfish tournament.

Last year’s top winner (Tommy Jones) won the top prize, estimated at over $1.2 million for his catch of an 83 lb. white marlin.

Anyone may fish in the 41st Annual White Marlin Open. To enter you must either; (a) officially register a boat, and/or (b) be registered as an angler on an officially registered boat, prior to fishing.

Normally docked at Rudee Inlet in Virginia Beach (which is the southernmost entry point for the competition) for this competition the Seaduction will be docked in Ocean City, Maryland.

The White Marlin Open offers flexible schedules, you only need to fish one of the three fishing days to be eligible for prizes. In doing so, the White Marlin Open allows for anglers with smaller budgets as well as those with deeper pockets. There is no limit on boat size. Anglers can choose their fishing days and enter the level that best matches their skills.
